  • Prior to this session, you will have completed a Whole Health Assessment Index, Personal Wellness Inventory, Values in Action Assessment, and begin to reflect on your meaning and purpose. We will get to know you, hear your story, and discuss what matters most to you.

  • Prior to this session, you will have reviewed our client-only Self-Care online course. Our time will be spent discussing which area of self-care resonates with you. We will practice Pause-Notice-Choose or other mindfulness techniques. We will discuss applying your strengths to the Circle of Self-Care.

  • We will create personalized goals that focus on what’s important to you and consider your entire life. We’ll use effective goal-setting strategies and follow the SMART approach, aiming for a timeframe of 3-6 months. Your action steps will be key to your plan and can change as needed. Progress may vary, and we will assess it together as your coach.

  • Our subsequent sessions will be at a pace you prefer. Whether we meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly, whenever you are ready, we will review your progress on the Personal Wellness Plan. Each session will focus on what has gone well and what we should adjust. We will celebrate milestones together and explore self-care skill-building as needed.

  • Yes. Whole Health is a scientifically grounded, patient-centered approach to care that originated within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VA’s Whole Health System was developed to address the limitations of disease-centered models and has since been implemented across VA medical centers nationwide, with measurable improvements in patient outcomes, provider satisfaction, and healthcare utilization.

    The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) affirmed the validity and promise of this approach in their 2022 consensus report Achieving Whole Health: A New Approach for Veterans and the Nation, which called for a broader integration of Whole Health principles into healthcare systems. The model is informed by evidence from lifestyle medicine, integrative health, positive psychology, behavioral science, and neuroscience—fields with substantial peer-reviewed research demonstrating that factors like purpose, social connection, nutrition, movement, and stress management play critical roles in health outcomes, disease prevention, and resilience.
